Carbon Reduction

Aside from a solar PV or thermal system, there are many things you can do to reduce your energy bill and corresponding carbon footprint at your house or business…

– caulking and sealing air leaks
– adding high efficiency windows/doors/heating/cooling/lights
– using “Energy Star” rated appliances
– adding roof insulation
– better ventilating your roof space
– changing your roof to a lighter sun reflective color (ie. white)
– adding and positioning certain types of landscaping

All of these can have good positive effect on your energy consumption and costs. Some of these have relatively low initial cost outlays and can yield very quick return on your investment as well. It makes good environmental sense to do so too! Learn more on what you can do at the US Department of Energy website at http://energy.gov/energysaver/energy-saver
